AS PART OF A GROUP
  • If you are a member of a sports club, why not arrange a charity match? We can help you organise it

  • If you are a member of a community group, we'd be very pleased to come and talk at one of your meetings

  • Use one of your meetings as a fundraising event - we have loads of ideas to make the event go with a swing

  • Come as a group to one of our events - maybe you'd enjoy a singalong at an Old Time Music Hall, or get a team together for a game of golf?

  • AS A COMPANY
  • Adopt Haven House as your company's charity of the year. By encouraging your staff to organise fundraising events through the year, you can improve team working, and morale

  • Donate a raffle prize for us to raise money at one of our events

  • Offer to match £ for £ any funds raised by members of staff - giving them more of an incentive to support us, and work for you

  • Sponsor part (or all!) of one of our events - for example, the cost of hiring a hall for a fair, or the cost of the food at a fundraising dinner

  • Payroll Giving schemes are easy to set up, and provide your staff with the opportunity to make tax-efficient donations to the charity of their choice

  • Promote Haven House Foundation as your charity partner, gaining positive branding, and helping us advertise our events

  • Gifts in Kind are always useful. Whether it's office furniture, computers, or just some expertise, it will save us money, and help you too

  • Recycle your used printer cartridges and mobile phones, and let Haven House get the benefit

  • For more about any of these ideas - and more -

  • Please contact Fundraising Team on 020 8506 3630. for further information on any of the above.

    Thank you for your support.

    VOLUNTEER

Volunteers make a huge contribution to the ongoing success of Haven House. Every area of activity associated with raising funds and running the organisation would be impossible without the generous support of our team of volunteers.

Some volunteers are able to give us a set amount of time each week, and others are able to help occasionally. We have different opportunities for everyone!

    For example:
  • be part of a team collecting donations at stations, shopping malls or supermarkets - a couple of hours doing this can raise as much as £100 per volunteer - enough for a day's respite for a child

  • help at one of our shops for a day - you could help us earn enough to pay for an Activity Co-ordinator for two days

  • come into our office and answer the phone, help with the post, or support our fundraising office organising events

  • if you have a van, and can help move bulky items, you could help distribute donated goods to our shops

  • or if you have experience doing presentations, why not use your skills to promote the work of Haven House to local community groups, schools and clubs?

  • Current volunteer vacancies

    Collections Volunteers
Collections volunteers become members of our bucket collecting teams. We ask for a commitment of whatever time a volunteer feels able to give – normally between 1 and 3 hours per session, but we are delighted if you can do more! Once registered, we will contact you by phone to ask for your help with specific collections. When you collect for us, the Collection Organiser will ensure that you have a rest break, and will change your bucket as (we hope!) it gets full of loose change! We are happy to reimburse you for your travel and refreshment costs. Please see our currrent collections list on our events page or click here.

    Collections Organisers
We are now recruiting a group of volunteers to form a small management committee to organise and run our collections for us. The types of tasks involved are:
  • Approaching venues such as department stores, garden centres and shopping centres to secure dates for collections

  • Telephoning appropriate registered volunteers (and helping to recruit new people) to secure their availability

  • Producing schedules for the collections

  • Together with other committee members, being in attendance during the day to change buckets, provide rest breaks and be responsible for the security of the money

  • Retail Assistants
We have Haven House Charity Shops in Barkingside, South Woodford and Chingford. We welcome volunteers who would like to help us in our shops, where they can take part in a range of different activities, from helping to sort and display stock, to selling and window-dressing. This is ideal experience in a retail environment for volunteers who are looking for preparation for the world of work - it is also an interesting, sociable and worthwhile activity.

    Haven Buddies Volunteers
This is an exciting new scheme offering support to the siblings of children who are currently, or have been, in the care of Haven House. Our first group of siblings chose the name of their group ‘Haven Buddies’ themselves. We are now looking for special people to join the Buddies and take part in group activities. If you have proven experience of working with children and young people, are kind, approachable, and have an awareness and empathy with the issues faced by the siblings of children with life-limiting or life-threatening illness, we would like to hear from you. (Volunteers in this role will be subject to enhanced CRB check.)

For more details and an informal chat about any of the above opportunities please Complete the volunteer application form page.
