Who We Are
Vision and Values

Haven House was founded on the vision and passion of Sue Irwin (see The Founder). Since 2003 we have been supporting children with life-limiting illnesses and their families in Central and North East London and West Essex.

We work with families from many ethnic minority communities and value people of all faiths and none. We recognize that everyone has physical, emotional and spiritual needs and seek to ensure that children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions can live life as fully as they are able. We will always seek to ensure that any experience of end of life care is dignified and compassionate.

Our Commitment is to embrace healing even when there is no cure.

Our Belief: When a child has a life limiting or terminal illness, medicine is not simply enough. Children need families to support and love them from the time of diagnosis. Families need continuing and compassionate support during the child’s lifetime and after their death.

Our Vision: To ensure that life-limited children and their families receive compassionate and appropriate medical, emotional and spiritual support.

Haven House Children’s Hospice is a special place for special children. We care for children and young people between the ages of 0 to 19 who have life-limiting conditions and who are unlikely to reach adulthood. We help families by providing a range of services that include day, short break and end of life care, together with therapeutic play in the community. Families can find the support they need when they need it most at no cost to themselves. Haven House Children’s Hospice is a charity looking after children and their families in Central and North East London and West Essex.

Opportunity to maintain NHS pension, plus benefits and CPD

Haven House Children’s Hospice is a charity that provides holistic care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We also meet the needs of children’s families, offering respite services, bereavement support, and a buddy scheme for siblings. The hospice provides an environment that allows children and families to live their lives to the full. Haven House is a young, ambitious organisation; we have trebled the number of children and families we care for in the last 18 months.

We have now recruited and developed a strong team to deliver our first class services; we now need to recruit a Care Team Leader and Staff Nurse to complete the picture. Both posts will join a team of committed professionals to provide excellent standards of care to our users.

For further information please contact Nora Rochester, Care Team Manager on 020 8506 5521 or email recruitment@havenhouse.org.uk
