The start of the New Year is always an exciting time and never more so at Haven House with a brand new campaign and calendar of events for the first part of 2017. The period after Christmas is a useful opportunity to work out the important things we need - or don’t need! If you need to de-clutter, you can make a new start to the year by donating unwanted presents to our charity shops.

If you are feeling a little run down from the Christmas festivities then why not sign up to our Dry January initiative with Alcohol Concern and ditch the booze for a month? It’s a great way to save money and give your body a break from overindulgence at the same time.

It will also set you up nicely for our ‘Chilly Dip’ challenge on 12 February. Brave the winter chill and dip into Hampstead Heath Lido with the aim of swimming one to five lengths. After the challenge you can warm up in the poolside sauna and enjoy a bowl of chilli provided by us at the Lido cafe bar. This is sure to heat you up again!

If doing something daring is definitely your thing then we would encourage you to sign up for some of the additional challenge events we have taking place throughout 2017.

Daring fundraisers can also be inspired by attending our Ask Ant event with ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ star Ant Middleton on 22 February at Sir James Hawkey Hall in Woodford Green. Ant will discuss his incredible Special Forces career and involvement in two new Channel 4 shows. There will also be exciting prizes to win in a raffle including the chance to have a selfie with Ant.

If taking on a challenge isn’t your thing, there are plenty of simpler ways you can support Haven House such as volunteering, making a small regular donation, or taking part in our Make a Will Week. Running from 6 to 10 March, the week is a great opportunity to get your personal affairs in order with good local solicitors giving their time and skills to make Wills in return for a donation to Haven House.

With so many different ways to get involved with us this year, there really is something for everyone. By supporting our work not only can you give yourself a new start to 2017, but it means you can help us continue to make a difference to the lives of local life-limited children and their families.
