The Ice Plunge is the ultimate winter challenge where you will be able to not only dip in but swim a length of the pool. It will be a very cold but invigorating experience! 

Cold water swimming has many health benefits and is a great way to kickstart your 2019 health goals. Our Ice Plunge is for anybody ready to start 2019 with a splash.

Here are the health benefits of cold water swimming that can help you reach your 2019 goals:

  1. Boost your immune system - swimming in cold water can significantly increase and activate your immune system. 
  2. Get an all-natural high - cold water swimmers often talk about the feeling of well-being that is so encompassing; who doesn't want to feel good? 
  3. Get your blood pumping - get your heart rate going and flush your circulation by pushing your blood through all your capillaries and arteries. 
  4. Burn calories - we all know that swimming is great exercise. In the cold your body will work twice as hard to keep you warm. 


  • Registration: £15 registration fee includes a certificate and a medal
  • Minimum sponsorship: £100. 

Please note that the registration fee covers the cost of running the event. We encourage participants to fundraise so we can continue to provide vital services to life-limited children and their families. 

Safety Tips

  • There are some dangers associated with plunging into cold water and so you should be medically fit
  • We would advise you wear a wet suit if you are not habituated/ acclimatised to swimming in cold water
  • The lifeguards will give a briefing to participants before the plunge begins, advising how best to cope with the cold and warm afterwards.
