Shoppers in Enfield Town Centre were serenaded by police officers singing Christmas carols on Thursday 10 December in aid of Haven House Children’s Hospice.

Around 10 officers from Enfield Town Police Station entertained the public with festive cheer and collected donations for Haven House in red buckets.

A total of £260 was raised for Haven House which supports life-limited children and their families in Enfield and throughout North London.
Enfield Police used the opportunity to give out crime prevention leaflets and anti-burglary advice to residents.

The Mayor of Enfield, Councillor Patricia Ekechi, also attended the event and helped with the bucket collection.

Mayor Ekechi said: “I was delighted to see such generosity from Enfield residents in the run-up to Christmas. Haven House does fantastic work for local life-limited children and it’s a cause which everyone in our community should support.

“I would like to thank Enfield Town Police Station for not only helping to raise funds for the hospice but also reminding residents of the need to stay safe throughout the festive period.”

Sergeant Velda Ewen, from the Metropolitan Police Service Safer Neighbourhoods team, said: “We were delighted to do our bit for Haven House and also remind Enfield residents how they can take simple steps to keep themselves and their belongings safe during the festive period.

“We thoroughly enjoyed singing carols and meeting residents on Thursday evening and we wish Haven House families and staff a very Merry Christmas.”
