Frances Daley has been announced as the new Chair of Haven House, taking the mantle from Woodford Green resident, Ian Sparks, who has been in the role for the past seven years.

Frances, who was born in Loughton, is a Chartered Accountant and has held various Finance Director roles, latterly as Group Finance Director of Lifeways Group, a leading supplier of specialist support to adults with learning difficulties and special needs.  She is also a Deputy Chair of a charitable trust school.

Here, Frances explains what attracted her to the role: ‘I was really impressed with the hospice’s holistic approach to the whole family and the support given to parents and siblings as well as the unwell child.’

She continues; ‘My predecessor Ian has done an amazing job of captaining Haven House through difficult financial times and helping to make it the robust and successful organisation it is today.  2014 and beyond will be about building upon that success, expanding services and supporting more children and families who desperately need our help.’

Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of the charity said of Frances’ appointment; ‘I’m certain that Frances’ extensive experience in both the corporate and charity world will be a real asset to Haven House and will help us to achieve our ambitious long-term goals.’

He continues; ‘I’d also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Ian Sparks for the phenomenal job he has done at the hospice over the last few years. His work here has been invaluable to local life-limited children and families.’
