The Harlow-based UK head office of Leitz Tooling – one of the UK’s largest tooling suppliers – has been praised for raising more than £5,141 for Haven House Children’s Hospice.

The funds are more than enough to pay for a day of care at the hospice. Leitz Tooling signed up for Haven House’s Pay for a Day scheme in 2015. The aim is to raise £3,835 which is the amount needed to provide 24-hours of care and support for children at the hospice.

Leitz Tooling will have its Pay for a Day officially recognised by Haven House on 1 March – the first day of spring. Having exceeded its initial target the company has pledged to continue the partnership for the rest of the year and hopefully pay for a second day of care.

Over the past year staff held a range of fundraising initiatives for Haven House. They donated £10 from every ticket sold for one of its assembly seminars to the hospice.

Last July a team consisting of Brian Maddox, Tony Kumm and Dave McCann, supported by Dave Jepson and UK Managing Director Simon Liddel, completed the epic Three Peaks Challenge and raised £3,000 for Haven House. The team scaled three of the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, totalling more than 23 miles and reaching 11,000 feet on one of the hottest days of the year.

Managing Director of Leitz Tooling UK, Simon Liddell, said "Haven House offers unique and necessary support and service for life-limited children and their families. The special work they do is inspiring and it has been and continues to be our pleasure to raise for them whatever funds we can from our company, our customers and industry."

Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “We are delighted that Leitz Tooling has decided to continue their partnership with Haven House for the rest of the year.

“They have literally scaled soaring heights in order to fund an entire day of care for our children and we are immensely grateful.

“We hope the admirable efforts of Leitz Tooling will encourage other local businesses to support our cause by signing up to Pay for a Day.”
