Michael van Gerwen, the world number one darts player, visited Haven House this week to meet children and families at the Woodford Green hospice.

The Dutch darts prodigy, who is currently The Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Champion, visited the hospice as part of a charity partnership, between PDC and Haven House.

Speaking about his visit, Michael explained; ‘Through my involvement with PDC, I’ve heard a lot about the great work of Haven House and I’ve always been keen to come down and meet the children and families there.’ He continues; ‘I’m proud to be supporting the hospice, its doing some fantastic work in the local community.’

Haven House is the official charity partner of PDC and the relationship has raised over £215,000 to date. The partnership has come about through Brentwood businessman Barry Hearn, a keen supporter of the hospice and Chair of PDC. Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of the Woodford Green hospice said of the visit; ‘It was great to introduce Michael to the work of the hospice – he’s a legend of the darts world and through his involvement with PDC, he’s helping to raise vital funds for local life-limited children and families.’
