News & stories Sam Faiers visits Haven House TV star Sam Faiers visited Haven House Children’s Hospice as part of Giving Tuesday and urged her fans to support the charity’s Christmas appeal. Sam took time out of her busy schedule to meet with staff and had a full tour of the hospice and its Holistic Care Centre in Woodford Green. She spent time learning about the realities of caring for children with life-limited conditions and praised staff for all of their hard work. Sam was also told about Haven House’s Christmas appeal which features the story of Keeley Johnson from Romford. Keeley’s son, Logan, was born on 1 December 2015 with Leigh syndrome - a severe neurological disorder which causes rapid muscle weakness that effects mobility, feeding and breathing. Keeley lost her first baby, Evelyn, to the condition in 2014, when she was seven-months-old. Haven House cared for Evelyn during her short life, providing Keeley with time for precious memories. The hospice is now supporting Keeley and Logan through another difficult journey. Sam Faiers said: “Haven House is a brilliant charity and I hope everyone can make a donation to the Christmas appeal. “The staff do such an amazing job and when you hear a story like Keeley’s, it makes you realise why it’s so important to support local children’s hospices.” Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “Sam is an incredible supporter of our hospice and has done so much for us in the past year. “She opened our new charity shop in Romford during the summer and is now helping to raise awareness of our vitally important Christmas appeal. “In order for us to continue to support families such as Keeley and Logan, we really need the public to dig deep this festival season and make a donation to our charity.” Please donate to our Christmas appeal by clicking this link.
