Families who use Haven House Children’s Hospice have been enjoying a series of special events held in the grounds of the hospice during August.

The hospice has opened up its prized grounds where families can meet each other and enjoy use of the gardens and play area. Activities include games, face painting and the opportunity for a picnic in the sunshine.

The Family Days have taken place on 5 August and 12 August with a final day planned for 26 August.

Sophie Nathan, Haven House Sibling Service Coordinator, said: “It’s wonderful to see so many families enjoying our Family Days.

“The days provide time for children who use the hospice and their brothers and sisters to play and enjoy our grounds, but they also help parents unwind and meet other families with life-limited children.”

Mel Rinaldi, a mother from Leytonstone uses Haven House for her son Kristian. She said: “I know Kristian enjoys himself when he is at Haven House and the Family Days mean I can meet some of the other parents who use the hospice for their children.

“It allows us to bond and share experiences, but also time to have fun as a family.”
