Haven House launched a new fundraising event on Friday (14th March), The Haven House Par-tea, which raised £2,000 for the Woodford Green hospice.

70 guests were treated to tea, sandwiches, scones and an assortment of delicious cakes at Seasons restaurant on Woodford Broadway and the afternoon was attended by TOWIE favourites Carol and Arg.

A number of local dignitaries also attended, including Councillor Sharon Weston (Deputy Mayor of Loughton), Councillor Tania Solomon (Deputy Mayor of Redbridge), Councillor Linda Trew (Deputy Mayor of Havering) and Councillor Michael Desmond (Speaker of Hackney).

Haven House mums also attended the event including local mum, Mariam, who gave a moving speech about how the hospice supports her family.  It is hoped that guests will be inspired to go on to hold their own afternoon tea and this will provide new fundraising revenue for the hospice.

Speaking about the event, Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House said; ‘We’re delighted that our inaugural afternoon tea was such a resounding success and we want to say a big thank you to everyone who lent their support and to Hetheringtons Estage Agents, for sponsoring the event.’

He continues; ‘We’re hoping that many more people in the local community will be inspired to hold their own afternoon teas, to help support our work with local life-limited children and families.’
