News & stories Vicki Michelle attends Summer Fayre 'Allo 'Allo! star Vicki Michelle and actor Gary Lucy enjoyed the fun of Haven House Children’s Hospice’s Summer Fayre on Sunday 10 July which raised over £13,000 for the charity. More than 1,200 people - including Haven House children and their families - attended the annual event held in the grounds of the hospice in Woodford Green. Activities for children included face painting, a penalty shootout, teddy raffle, bouncy castles and a pirate ship themed playground with a trampoline. Local acts which entertained the crowd throughout the day included the Ultrasound Choir, Jailhouse Blues Brothers and the Chingford Morris Men. Adults had the opportunity to quench their thirst at a Pimms station whilst a barbeque, cakes and strawberries served with cream kept hunger at bay. The fayre had a wealth of shopping opportunities with stalls selling clothing and toys, including items from Haven House’s four charity shops. Vicki Michelle MBE, a patron of Haven House, said: “I always have a wonderful time at the Summer Fayre and this year was no exception. It was lovely to meet some of the children and their families who use the hospice. “Haven House has a special place in my heart and it’s great to see the charity going from strength to strength.” Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “Our Summer Fayre keeps getting bigger and better and once again has raised an incredible amount for the hospice. “It was great to see our patrons, Vicki Michelle MBE and Gary Lucy taking the time to speak with guests about our work. “We were thrilled to see so many of our children and their families enjoying the event too.” The Summer Fayre also saw the launch of Haven House’s new online raffle with a range of top prizes including use of a sports car for a week, two adult day spa passes to Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel & Spa and £100 Homebase/Argos vouchers.
