Billie and Greg Shepherd Ambassadors Expand Billie Faiers TV star, celebrity mum and business woman, Billie Faiers, shot to fame as one of the original cast members of BAFTA award-winning programme, The Only Way Is Essex. She starred in the hit TV show for 15 series from 2010 but left in 2016 to focus on growing her family. Billie is a successful business woman affiliated with many brands. Not only does she own family run Brentwood boutique, 'Minnie's' but she also has an exclusive clothing collection with fashion brand, In The Style, as well as her own range of award winning baby products with MyBabiie. In addition to this, Billie has launched her own baby wear collection for George at ASDA and has worked alongside many well renowned family brands and house hold names including, My 1st Years, Disney, Getting Personal, Thorntons, Zapf Creations and Claire's Accessories. Greg Shepherd Gregory Shepherd is an Essex based businessman turned TV personality, who you may know as the husband of Billie Faiers. Greg, who works within the ticket industry, has for the most part tried to stay out of the limelight, however, after recently being dubbed the star of the family's ITVBe show, 'The Family Diaries.' In terms of commercial partnerships, Greg has previously worked with Johnsons & Johnsons, New Look and has appeared in a host of magazines. His main interests are sport, fashion, events and travel, with the latter being his main passion and area of focus.
Driver Assistant Join our team and support our van driver with deliveries between our retail shops and the hospice. Expand Keeping the supply of items flowing between our offices, retail shops and various locations is vital as it assists in the smooth running of the hospice. The primary role of the volunteer driver assistant is to help deliver and collect purchased and donated goods for the Hospice and any future retail outlets across, Central and North East London and West Essex. Facilities Volunteer Come and support our facilities team in the maintenance and smooth running of the hospice. Expand The facilities team ensure the smooth-running day to day of the hospice both inside and outside the building. The remit for the facilities team includes liaising with contractors, managing the housekeeping team, utilities, managing the upkeep of the building and the grounds, health and safety, space and office management and project managing any work that is carried out at the hospice. We are looking for volunteers who could join the team and help out generally day to day around the hospice with small DIY tasks and at some of our big on-site events. Buddies activity volunteer Come and support our lively buddies group with trips and activities. Expand We provide regular support groups and activity sessions for siblings to meet other brothers and sisters of children with life-limiting illnesses or those who have experienced bereavement. The service is hosted in a variety of settings including our Buddies hut in the grounds or trips off site. The groups are often divided between juniors (aged 5-11) and teens (12-18). For both groups it is an opportunity to have fun together and enjoy activities and outings. Brothers and sisters of a child who uses or has used our services are eligible to receive sibling support from the Buddies group. We require volunteers to come and assist at these activities, working alongside our buddies’ co-ordinator. Much of the role involves taking care of the needs of the children while they are at an event and joining in and assisting with the activity. For this role we ask, that you have some experience of working/volunteering with children. This role only runs in the school holidays as this is when the children are free. Purple pot ambassadors This role involves volunteers managing our charity collection boxes in an area or a high street. This role involves volunteers managing an area or a high street and keeping a check on the existing boxes and replacing them when required. This includes local shops, pubs, businesses etc. Once collected and replaced the pot should be dropped back to the hospice. The role is very flexible and is based within your local area. Event Support There are various ways in which you could assist at one of our events. Expand We have many fundraising events throughout the year both at the hospice and in the local area. Ian Ailles Ian Ailles was the Director General of the House of Commons, House of Commons Commissioner and Chair of the Commons Executive Board. Expand Ian has worked in complex, customer facing organisations, in both the public and private sectors. He is a qualified accountant and has worked in a wide range of service industries in the UK and Overseas. The majority of his career has been in the travel and leisure industries, performing CEO, MD, COO and CFO roles with listed UK and US companies. Outside the travel industry he has held executive, non-executive and consultancy roles for charities, start-up ventures and large organisations in sectors including the NHS, education, care homes, IT and banking. He continues to hold a number of non executive roles. Ian holds the post as Chairman at Haven House. Ian lives in Hertfordshire and is married with two daughters.
Simon Boston Simon is Treasurer of Haven House and chairs the Finance and Resources Committee. Expand Simon has been a chartered accountant for 20 years, having spent several years at PwC before taking on a number of financial and commercial roles in industry. He has spent the last 10 years as a CFO in multi-site businesses in both the restaurant sector and more recently at a fast-growing flexible workspace business.
Rachel Brodie Rachel decided to become a trustee due to her personal connection to Haven House. Rachel’s son Isaac was born in 2016 with a mass on his brainstem that was sadly untreatable and incurable. Expand Rachel Brodie joined our board in 2021. Rachel’s career has seen her work in educational publishing and for the last ten years in large-scale B2B exhibitions and conferences, most recently as Divisional Managing Director at Hyve Group. Rachel decided to become a trustee due to her personal connection to Haven House. Rachel’s son Isaac was born in 2016 with a mass on his brainstem that was sadly untreatable and incurable. Rachel and her husband Steven spent Isaac’s precious final days together at Haven House. Rachel hopes that her personal experience with our hospice will enable her to share helpful insights into the future development of the support services we offer to carers. Rachel will also be a familiar face around the hospice meeting regularly with families at our coffee mornings. “I became a trustee because I am passionate about community engagement and because Haven House holds a special place in my heart. I am keen to support the wonderful Haven House team as they continue to grow, develop and shape the future of care. The care that we received from Haven House throughout Isaac's short life was absolutely wonderful, and it's hard to put into words just how much of a difference this made to us, transforming an absolutely impossible time into something bearable and, at times, truly incredible. We were able to spend Isaac's last hours in private together, holding him close, singing to him, praying for him and making sure he knew he was loved and cherished more than anything. I hope my personal experience, together with my professional experience, means I can be a supporter, advisor, challenger and advocate for the hospice and contribute to its future success.”
Charlotte Clements Charlotte is a Consultant Paediatrician and Clinical Director at North Middlesex Hospital. Expand Charlotte specialises in paediatric emergency medicine and has worked at North Middlesex Hospital since 2017 (having previously trained in many London hospitals over the previous decade). She has been Clinical Director for Children's Services since 2023. She is passionate about delivering high quality, equitable services for children and their families and ensuring there are effective pathways for babies, children, and young people to get the support they need. She lives locally with her husband and daughter.
Will Cooke Will combines years of strategic marketing & communications with first-hand lived experience of the vital service that Haven House provides to families. Haven House has helped care for his son Dylan, who is one of only a handful of children who suffer from a rare neurodegenerative and severely life-limiting condition called Sandhoff disease. The family has built close bonds with Haven House across respite, mental health support, yoga, music, hydrotherapy, as well as finding a much loved community of peers. Professionally he has helped some of the world's biggest and best loved brands craft award winning and attention worthy marketing campaigns. As a strategist he's constantly searching for the insight that will make a meaningful difference to business, brand and audience. He has served on management boards for several global communication agencies and brings a truly integrated mindset with experience across paid, earned and owned marketing channels.
Jonathan Harding Jon is a Managing Director at Standard Chartered Bank, where he heads Emerging Markets Institutional Rates Sales in the Financial Markets division. Expand He has held numerous Sales and Trading management roles over a career that spans more than 20 years and has previously worked at Nomura International, RBS, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Credit Suisse First Boston. Jon currently chairs the Income Generation and Marketing Committee and brings with him a strong financial background and City contacts. Originally from North West England, Jon has lived locally since he graduated and has three children. He is a keen cyclist.

Dee Mullner Dee lives locally and is a senior Human Resources professional with over 19 years working in the NHS. Her current appointment is with Barts Health NHS Trust where she leads on Trust HR policies, overseeing employee relations cases, working in partnership with trades unions, leading on freedom to speak up and running the Trust’s mediation service. Liesbeth Newman Liesbeth is a retired investment professional, having worked for over twenty years in the City. Sir Iain Duncan Smith Patron Expand Rt. Hon Iain Duncan Smith MP is the Member of Parliament for Chingford and Woodford. A former leader of the Conservative Party, he established the Centre for Social Justice, an independent think tank committed to tackling poverty and social breakdown. After the 2010 election Iain was appointed Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.He provides the hospice with regular and invaluable support including hosting supporter lunches at the House of Commons.Iain was knighted for services to politics and charities in 2020
Complementary Therapists We need complementary therapists to offer their services to the children and parents we care for. Expand Our complementary therapy service is led by volunteers that are trained and experienced in their field. They offer support on our premises to parents of children who are receiving care at Haven House. Haven House will ensure that therapies are offered to families and that this is promoted within the community. The reception team will book all appointments for the therapists. The role is flexible so therapists may choose to work once a week or once a fortnight. Barry Hearn Patron Expand Barry Hearn was born in Dagenham and educated in Buckhurst Hill. Barry is a sporting events promoter and the founder and chairman of promotions company Matchroom Sport.Haven House has been the chosen charity for both World Snooker and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), thanks to Barry’s role as Chairman of both organisations. In addition he has secured a raft of sportspeople and auction prizes to assist our fundraising efforts. Speaking about becoming a Haven House Patron, Barry said: ‘I’ve really got to know the staff at Haven House over the years and have seen for myself the great work that the hospice does for children and families in the local community.’Married to Susan with two children, Barry lists his sporting interests as poker, fishing, running and golf.
Dilini Rajapakse Dilini is a medical consultant paediatrician specialising in paediatric palliative care and chronic pain medicine at Great Ormond Street hospital (GOSH). Expand Dilini has been at GOSH since 2007 and trained in paediatrics in London. In this role she has worked closely with the clinical team at Haven House children’s hospice, the local community and hospital teams supporting children, young people and their families. Dilini is experienced in delivering safe paediatric palliative care through collaborative partnerships, research and development and interdisciplinary training and education. She is committed to raising awareness about children’s palliative care and their unique experiences in life.
