Welcome to the new look Haven House. We are so grateful to the incredible generosity of our supporters who made it possible to transform our hospice with a brighter, colourful and more spacious interior in our 15th birthday year.

This has been our biggest refurbishment since opening in 2003 and means we are in a better position to meet the changing needs of our families for many years to come.

I joined Haven House in December 2013 as a senior nurse in the Care team. Prior to that I had been working for many years in the children’s accident and emergency department at Whipps Cross Hospital.

Transferring from a hospital to a children’s hospice has been a wonderful experience for me. I have met so many children and families and been able to provide care in a much slower paced and peaceful environment.

Since September 2015, I have been a Clinical Nurse Manager at Haven House. I help lead the Care team working closely with our fantastic nurses and healthcare support workers.

My role involves a lot of time in our Care office. I oversee all the bookings requests for respite as well as look at new referrals as they come in. However, I keep up to date with all that is going on with our children from the morning huddle with the nurse in charge to covering breaks and helping when needed.

The summer holidays are always a very busy time for us. Most of our school-aged children attend school during term time: a fact which often surprises people who may not be familiar with the world of hospice care. It can be difficult for parents of life-limited children during term breaks when support is no longer available to their child at school. That is why respite care at Haven House can make such a difference.

I am passionate about making sure we are always there to support our children and families whenever they need our services and helping our team deliver this every single day.

Join our Care team and help make a difference to our families.
