Actor Daniel Mays, comedians Jon Richardson and Stephen K Amos and former England rugby international Simon Shaw put on their best telephone voices as they attended the BGC Charity Day on behalf of Haven House on Wednesday 11 September.

BGC Partners organise the annual event each year to commemorate the devastating terrorist attacks in New York in 2001.
This year saw the 15th annual BGC Charity Day, where charities and a host of famous faces were welcomed onto the trading floors in London, New York and around the world, to raise money for causes close to their heart.

Haven House was delighted to be one of the chosen charities selected on behalf of Sunrise Brokers, a subsidiary of BGC Partners. The men were a real hit on the trading floor and were also extremely popular with the hospice’s children and families who joined in on the day’s activities.

Jon, best known for his role on the television comedy panel game 8 of 10 Cats, proved incredibly popular with Annabelle, aged 3. The duo made the perfect team in closing a deal.

Dad Chris Thomas said:

We had an awesome day at the Sunrise Brokers offices. Everyone made us feel so welcome and it was Annabelle’s first trip to London outside of a hospital visit. She loved the treasure hunt, magic show and getting on the phones with Jon Richardson to raise some money for Haven House.
What a wonderful day recognising the vital role of Haven House and the support we provide to so many children and families. Not only has this been an incredible day of fundraising for some fantastic causes but it has been such a fun and memorable occasion for our children. We really value the support of Sunrise Brokers and funds raised will help us support more local life-limited children and their families.

Daniel Mays, ahead of his debut in Sky’s new drama Temple, said he was honoured to be representing the charity: “I’m really excited to be helping raise much-needed funds for seriously ill children and their families at the BGC Charity Day. Today I have had the privilege to meet several children and their parents and hear about the impact Haven House has on their lives. The charity really is a lifeline to these families. I continue to be inspired by the incredible and vital work of Haven House and the stories of the families they support.”

The amount raised for Haven House will be announced early next year.
