Sophie is an events fundraiser at Haven House, and decided to take on the challenge to support the vital 24/7 care the hospice provides to seriously ill children and their families.

Having already completed a bungee jump in 2015 and a skydive in 2013 the daredevil duo opted for the ultimate aerial challenge of a wing walk, which saw them dip, tilt and reach speeds of 120mph – all while strapped to the top of the plane.

Sophie, 25, said: “Dad is always wanting us to try something new and he is regularly finding us challenges to embark on. after the country being under so many restrictions we decided to take the leap and tick this challenge off of our bucket list.

The flight was absolutely amazing and it made us feel so free! It was a big adrenaline rush; far better than any rollercoaster ride you can go on and the views were simply phenomenal.

“Covid-19 has had a huge impact on fundraising. With events halted, the conventional ways of fundraising have had to be put on hold, so we are continually thinking of clever, fun and daring ways to raise funds. Haven House relies on 64% of voluntary income, which includes people taking on crazy activities like us!

I absolutely love my job and I have grown to know and love many of the children and families that we support. The care Haven House provides to children as well as for their families and carers, is invaluable. It’s so important that we get behind the hospice so it can continue to be a lifeline of care for so many local families.
