Laura Wise We are a group of recreational runners who run to keep fit, some of the group have previously ran 1/2 marathons and some have barely ran to the end of the street.

We have chosen to undertake this half marathon both for a New Years challenge as well as providing an opportunity to raise money for a local and very worthwhile cause. Most of us haven't even ran a 10k before this challenge so the prospect of 13.1 miles is a lot for some!!

Haven House Hospice is a local childrens charity, caring for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions in 18 counties including Harlow and Epping.

Haven House provide an invaluable level of support and service for the community and we're proud to be supporting such a charity.

None of our group have any personal connection to this charity, however, whilst looking into which cause we should raise funds for, Haven House Hospice stood out.

Individually we have raised funds for a number of charities and realised that Haven House does not receive the publicity and recognition it deserves. As parents we all know how precious our little bundles are, the thought that our children may have health problems and life limiting illnesses is a devastating concept but one that is lived by many families on a daily basis.

Haven House Hospice aims to provide the best possible life for every baby, child and young person with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and their families, who live in our local communities.
