I’m hoping to raise £100 for Haven House Children’s Hospice. Many of you know that I work there, leading the music therapy team. Therefore, I know first hand just how special this place is, how much it means to families, and what it can offer to life limited children.

Although Haven House is a nurse-led health care provider, 80% of our funding every year has to come from charitable fundraising. Most charities, including Haven House, have found their fundraising activities to be under particular threat due to the current pandemic, and Haven House needs support more than ever.

Not only this, but Haven House families are among the most vulnerable to the threat of COVID-19. Many children that use our services are severely immunocompromised with significant respiratory difficulties. Many can become critically ill from a cold; let alone a novel virus with no cure or vaccine.

During this pandemic, Haven House is continuing to offer highly specialised End of Life care, emergency respite and step down care. This work is supporting our NHS colleagues by relieving pressure on hospital beds. All therapies (including music, 😎) are happening remotely, to offer families support when they are even more isolated than they usually are.

I’m doing the Virtual Sparkle Walk in order to stand alongside the brilliant nurses and care team, who are true heroes every day; even more so during this pandemic.

I’d be so grateful if you’d consider donating any amount, however small, (£1 = 1p per 100 metres!) to support this amazing place.
