Hello Everyone

On the 24 September I will be putting on my running shoes once again to take part in the Berlin Marathon. This year I have decided to raise money for a local charity, based close to our offices in Stratford - Haven House Children's Hospice.

Haven House supports families and cares for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions across North and East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire. Very sadly, the majority of the children won’t live to see adulthood.

Haven House provides planned and emergency care 24 hours a day, every day of the year to over 350 life-limited children from birth to aged 19. All their services are free to families and these include:

• Day and overnight care so Mum and Dad can have a break from the rigours of 24 hour care
• Music therapy – which helps children communicate and express themselves
• Physiotherapy – to help keep children more mobile for longer
• Bereavement services – including counselling for all family members to help them deal with their loss
• A family flat – which allows families to stay with their children at the hospice
• Coffee Mornings – a support group for families who’s children use the hospice

In order to provide these services and continue to reach more families in their catchment area Haven House relies heavily on the generosity of the local community. I’m hoping that my willingness (or some might say stupidity!) to take on my 3rd marathon will inspire people to get behind me once again and donate to this wonderful cause. All donations will help Haven House raise the 3.9 million needed each year to fund the hospice and all its services.
