Would you like to be a charity champion?

We are currently looking for volunteer Charity Champions to help make the partnership with Haven House and Richard House Children’s Hospice a great success.

We would like to have a network of Charity Champions across all departments to help raise awareness and inspire others to believe they can make a difference – then help them make it!

Time Commitment

The Charity Champion role is voluntary and should complement your day job and development opportunities. Champions will be invited to attend a monthly charity committee meeting, allowing you to hear and share fundraising ideas. Meetings will generally be held during a lunch hour.

The role of Charity Champions

The role of the Charity Champion is to help support and promote London-wide fundraising initiatives and to organise department events such as dress down days, bake sales etc. Specifically, responsibilities may include:

  • Acting as a point of contact for your department in relation to Haven House and Richard House Children’s Hospices’ fundraising activities – organising/assisting in fund-raising activities.
  • Setting up and maintaining a charity noticeboard that allows promotion of fund-raising and volunteering activities.
  • Making sure that your colleagues are aware of and can support fundraising and volunteering activities.
  • Adding a fundraising element to any department social wherever possible.

Benefits

Becoming a Charity Champion can help you personally in many ways:

  • An opportunity for you to develop skills in areas including communications, team working, leadership events organisation and planning
  • Allows you to build a network and build relationships at all levels within your department.
  • Access to members of the London Charity of the Year Committee – and providing the opportunity to network with senior leaders.
  • Gives the opportunity to have a direct input into raising money and awareness to help our charity partners, Haven House and Richard House Children’s Hospices’

Support

There is also plenty of support available:

  • Opportunity to join a monthly Charity Champions meeting to input ideas and update on the partnership activities to date.
  • Support from Haven House and Richard House Children’s Hospices’ Fundraising Teams
  • Help in promoting fundraising and volunteering activities by featuring them on our internal channels and providing posters and template emails that can be utilised to drive awareness within each department.

Anyone interested in becoming a Charity Champion should in the first instance email Jenni Anderson.

Being a champion is about inspiring colleagues so that together we can make a difference
