Kilimanjaro trek A team of Citi employees embarked on the Kilimanjaro trek in July 2017, raising an incredible £63,000 for Haven House and Richard House Children's Hospices. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Its summit rises high above the dusty plains and huge permanent glaciers flow down from its peaks; these views were the reward for our Citi team who pushed their limits both physically and mentally. The trek took them on the Lemosho route which approaches from the western Lemosho glades. Following in the footsteps of 'celebrity' Comic Relief trekkers, the route started in the pristine rainforest before crossing the vast Shira plateau, and merging into the Machame Route on Day 3. This itinerary included an extra acclimatisation day and a shorter day of trekking prior to summit night - which ensured more rest, less stress, more time to acclimatise – giving the team the best chance of making it to the top and enjoying it...which they all did! The experience is something they will never forget and the hospices are so grateful for this incredible support. If anyone at Citi is interested in taking on their own trek for the hospices, please contact Erica Chamberlain at Citi who will be delighted to help them. [email protected] Manage Cookie Preferences
