An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Play Specialist to join a friendly multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for creating a warm and stimulating play environment for children and young people accessing services of Haven House both in the hospice and within their home environment.

With a proven track record in play activities, you will have experience of preparing play sessions and using distraction skills to aid care & therapies. You will work autonomously and use your own initiative to plan play according to age, ability and sensory needs.
Effective communication skills are essential, and you will have an understanding of assessing the differing needs of children and young people who use the services of Haven House who have complex/additional needs.

Making memories and wishes happen would be in the spirit of the role. The ideal candidate will organise a calender of play activities every quarter and communicate this to the wider care teams. Where necessary assisting and guiding care staff on play opportunities for children and young people.

You must be a team player who is also able to work on your own initiative. This role would require you to join a team of play co-ordinators, working closely with them to coordinate play in the hospice and as well as in the community.
