Closing date: Friday 11th June 2021, 5pm

We are seeking to appoint a new Trustee to the Haven House Board who will champion the voices of families and service users through their lived experience of children’s palliative care services. The Board of Trustees ensures that Haven House complies with our legal responsibilities to deliver a high-quality service with the voice of babies, children, and young people at the heart of all we do.

The Haven House Board includes Trustees with a wide range of skills and experiences, both professional and personal. As a Trustee, your role will be to ensure that the charity is governed effectively, and you will work in partnership with the Chief Executive and senior management team in agreeing and working to a clear vision and strategic objectives. This will involve scrutinising Board papers, offering constructive challenge, and providing advice and guidance to enable the Board to reach the right decisions.

As a ‘lived experience Trustee’, your role will be to ensure the voice of service users is represented on the Board. You will also be expected to support the Director of Care and clinical team in actively seeking and relaying the views of current service users to champion family choice and service development. This will involve joining family forums on a regular basis where feasible, and working as part of the Service Development Committee in the strategic planning of future care services.

As well as lived experience in Children’s palliative care, we also seek diversity in skills and background to help us shape and safeguard the future at Haven House.

The Board of Trustees usually meets six times per annum, with meetings held in the evening.  In addition, along with family forums, service development meetings and meeting preparation, we anticipate a time commitment of 1-2 days per month.

Unfortunately, at this time, due to a potential conflict of interest, we are unable to consider applicants who are parents of current service users for this role.

If you would like an informal conversation about this role, please contact Eileen White, Director of Care on 0208 505 9944.
