On the August 9th, 2020, Aizah Ali aged 7 was diagnosed with DIPG, diffuse intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a fatal brain stem tumour. The median survival is 9 months from diagnosis. Aizah sadly passed away on January 17th, 2021, 6 months after receiving her diagnosis.

Prior to her passing, Great Ormond Street Hospital referred us to Haven House hospice for palliative care and support at home. The Haven House team showed an outstanding level of care. The dedication, commitment and relentless efforts shown by each of the team involved in Aizah’s care was truly remarkable. Each member went above and beyond to support Aizah and my family during this difficult time and continued to do so despite the challenges of the restrictions in place due to the lockdown.

Aizah’s schoolteacher Miss Bishop, Iram Farooq (Aizah’s friends mum) and Yasmin Khanam will be taking part in the 10k Sparkle Walk on Friday 2nd September to support Haven House Children's Hospice.

We will be walking to celebrate Aizah’s life, to honour her memory and walking to help raise much needed funds to support Haven house so they can continue to provide support and care to children and their families suffering from terminal illnesses.

Please help further the work of this hospice by donating, no matter how small the amount, so they may continue to provide the much-needed support to the children and families under their care.

Thank you.

YASMIN KHANAM
