Time to volunteer You can help Haven House by giving your time; even a couple of hours a month makes a big difference to life-limited children and their families. You will also make new friends and learn new skills. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life and we rely on volunteers to help in the hospice, shop and administration offices as well as helping out in the community at public collections and other fundraising events. View our on going volunteer opportunities. View our temporary events opportunities and upcoming volunteer training and inductions. Please note to volunteer at our events you will need to fill in a temporary registration form and have a brief sent to you from one of the team. Volunteering can be a lot of fun and is a great way of meeting people and finding new friends in your local area. Many volunteers also benefit from learning new skills and building up valuable work experience, to help them get paid work in the future. Other volunteers gain great satisfaction from putting their existing experience or professional skills to good use by donating their talents to our cause. Whatever your motivation, you can be sure that your efforts will be making a real contribution to the work of Haven House. Here are some of our current volunteers reasons for supporting the hospice: I have been helping out for ten years and started as our eldest son stayed at the hospice for respite care. I've done all sorts from driving, helping at events, picking up collection boxes and even helping in the shop. When I think of the help we received as a family at Haven House I would recommend getting involved to anyone. I try to help out as much as I can in my free time. I was a hair stylist in salons for about five years, but began to not enjoy it and wanted a career change. Without relevant experience in another sector, I knew it would be difficult. Volunteering at Haven House has given me the opportunity to learn new skills in a new area, which will help me with future employment. Apart from all the people that I get to meet, I would have to say working on events is hard work but great fun. I have been volunteering at Haven House for five years and help whenever I can, even if it is for a day or a couple of hours. I know I am helping a worthwhile cause and I have met lots of new people. The requests for help vary from Summer Fayres to challenge events, is always fun.
