The Financial Ombudsman Service are currently in the second year of a charity partnership with Haven House.  Amongst all the fundraising initiatives which they have undertaken (which includes runs, gym-a-thons, cake sales, marathons and more) they have also encouraged their 4,000 strong employee team to join the “Pennies from Heaven” scheme.

Pennies from Heaven is a simple concept. An employee's net pay is rounded down to the nearest pound with the pennies donated to charity. For example, if you earn £850.34 then 34p is donated to charity.  The most you can ever give is 99p every time you are paid.

Even though the donations are small, they soon add up, so it’s a scheme that all staff can take part in.

Emma Struben, who chairs the Financial Ombudsman's Charity Committee said:

“It’s a great way for any and all staff to support Haven House, our chosen charity and compliments all the other fundraising initiatives which we are doing.  On average, the Financial Ombudsman Service donates around £55 per month, and it is adding up over the course of our partnership”.
