HSBC City Business Banking Team recently held a “Stand Up For Charity” fundraiser in aid of Haven House which saw a group of ten employees put through three stand-up comedy workshops before taking to the stage in front of a friendly audience.

Mentored by Laughology founder, Stephanie Davies, each amateur comedian bravely scripted their own material. Around 80 people, mostly colleagues of the would-be comedians took their seats in a packed venue to watch our brave performers complete their routines.

Performing on the night were HSBC team members, Andrew Stanley, Alastair Isles, Jamie Patterson, Sam Mitchell, Paul Schiernecker, Ian Jackson and Head of UK Business Banking James Cliffe. They were joined by former HSBC colleagues Barbara Minervini and Chris Spike and Haven House Corporate Partnerships Manager, Sarah Pye.

Every single participant did a fantastic job and an incredible £4,000 was raised. Haven House would like to thank all of our performers, Stephanie of Laughology, our venue hosts and our judging panel. The judges were made up of Julie Napier of HSBC, Kate Rosenthal of Haven House and Laughology’s comedy expert, Dave Keeling.

To fully understand how the funds raised will be used, a team from HSBC City Business Banking visited Haven House for a tour and a day of volunteering in the grounds on one of the wettest days of the year.

Andrew Stanley, Relationship Manager at HSBC said: “We want to say a huge thank you once again to everyone that donated or supported us in any other way to ensure that this was a successful event. We couldn’t have done it without the true team spirit that everyone showed”.
