Complementary Therapists We need complementary therapists to offer their services to the children and parents we care for. Expand Our complementary therapy service is led by volunteers that are trained and experienced in their field. They offer support on our premises to parents of children who are receiving care at Haven House. Haven House will ensure that therapies are offered to families and that this is promoted within the community. The reception team will book all appointments for the therapists. The role is flexible so therapists may choose to work once a week or once a fortnight. Retail volunteers Volunteering in one of our shops (Chingford, North Chingford, Loughton, Epping, Leytonstone, Crouch End and Romford) can be rewarding and a very interesting fun way of volunteering. Expand Shop volunteers help with all aspects of the day today running of the shop so you could be asked to help out with any of the following activities; Serving customers at the till point Sorting through donations Cleaning bric-a-brac Pricing and hanging clothes Helping with shop displays We are also seeking an Online Retail Volunteer to help with selling items on our eBay shop. You will need to understand the general principles of selling online and help with sorting donations, researching to identify an item’s worth and postage and packaging. This role would be based in Romford. Haven House relies on having a team of volunteers to help the Manager run the shop on a regular basis. Income Generation and Marketing Committee Members We are seeking proactive individuals with a business background to join the Income Generation & Marketing (IGM) Committee to help steer and further develop its annual programme of fundraising activities. Expand Haven House relies on the generosity of its business partners and individual donors to fund our £4.4m hospice services. Without this support we could not help the 300 children and families that use our services each year. As we plan to increase our voluntary income over the next five years to support more children and families in the face of likely reduced Government funding, we are looking for individuals with business skills who can support our ambitious fundraising plans. Our Committee Members play a key role in supporting the IGM team across all fundraising areas including events, major gifts, corporate partnerships and retail. They provide guidance and advice in areas of their own professional expertise and are happy to bring their networks to the table. Suitable candidates will be interested in supporting any of the following areas of activity: High-level events such as balls, gala dinners or networking events Company giving schemes or experience of making connections between charitable activities and business Retail development Legal, in particular conveyancing, commercial negotiations and/or legacies Business development. Candidates should also enjoy working collaboratively and in partnership with a dedicated fundraising team to support them to test and pilot new fundraising schemes. Committee members would be expected to: Attend committee meetings (4-6 times a year) Attend Haven House events, with a particular focus on our high-level, special events programme Promote events and activities within their personal and/or professional network Use their professional experience to help Haven House to further develop its voluntary income. Volunteer gardeners Are you an outdoors person who enjoys working in beautiful surroundings? Expand We are looking for volunteer gardeners to help us look after our beautiful grounds, which include tranquil woodland and mature shrub borders. Enthusiasm is the key ingredient, you do not have to be a very knowledgeable gardener as training and support are provided. Purple pot ambassadors This role involves volunteers managing our charity collection boxes in an area or a high street. Expand Purple pots are our charity collection boxes that we have in the local community. This role involves volunteers managing an area or a high street and keeping a check on the existing boxes and replacing them when required. This includes local shops, pubs, businesses etc. Once collected and replaced the pot should be dropped back to the hospice. The role is very flexible and is based within your local area. Event Champion There are various ways in which you could assist at one of our events. Expand We have many fundraising events throughout the year both at the hospice and in the local area. There are various ways in which you could assist at one of these events, including marshalling, registration, catering, serving refreshments, running games and merchandise stalls or selling raffle tickets.
