Singer and TV star, Peter Andre brought his team to Haven House and filmed a Christmas special of his ITV1 show, 60 Minute Makeover.

Peter and the crew came to the hospice to makeover our ‘Buddies Hut’ – a designated space for the siblings of life-limited children; which hosts film nights, arts and crafts sessions and vital counselling and support services.

What started out as a rather nondescript building in the woodland setting of Haven House is now a bright, modern and child-friendly space, boasting the latest in audio-visual equipment, a new arts and crafts area and colourful seating inside and out.

The TV crew brought ‘Christmas’ to the children, families and staff on the day, with ‘snow’, reindeer and a tree with presents for the children.

Peter and his team of professional decorators and builders transformed the space, with a makeover worth almost £18,000.  In between filming, the TV star met a number of Haven House children and families and discovered why the Buddies Hut is so important to them.

Nine-year-old Buddy, Aisha Davies from Hainault, who was filmed for the show explains; ‘It was a brilliant day; me and my brother Kai got to meet Peter Andre and he was really nice.’  She continues; ‘The Buddies hut is a really important place for me, it's where I get to have fun, meet other kids who are going through the same stuff as me and talk to people who understand.’

Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House said; ‘It was a real coup for the hospice to be involved with the show. He continues; ‘Most importantly, however,  is what this means to our siblings – an amazing, dedicated space where they can have fun and access vital support as and when they need it.'
