A radio DJ who pledged to transform himself as part of a fundraising challenge for Haven House Children’s Hospice surprised shoppers at its new charity shop in Romford when he turned up dressed as a princess.

Time 107.5 daytime presenter Mark Dover visited the shop after taking part in Saturday’s official Guinness World Record attempt outside Romford Shopping Hall for the largest gathering of people dressed as princesses.

The DJ took part in the challenge for Haven House and raised more than £1,100 for the hospice in Woodford Green.

Afterwards Mark paid a visit to the charity’s new shop on 52 South Street, Romford, where he was thanked by staff and volunteers for his fundraising efforts.

Matt Lord, Head of Retail at Haven House, said: “What better way to open our new charity shop than with a visit from a princess who has raised a fantastic amount for the hospice.

“Saturday was our first day of trading and with the Romford Street Party taking place for the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebration it was incredibly busy.

“We are delighted by the feedback we’ve had from customers and would appeal for as many people as possible to visit the shop.

“We also need volunteers to give their time and help in the shop for a few hours each week.”

Mark Dover said: “It was definitely worth turning myself into a princess for Haven House. The staff will be able to make great use of this money at the hospice and the new charity shop is a great addition to South Street.

“I’ll be popping in when I’m not on-air to buy a few bargains for my colleagues at Time 107.5.”
