The leaves are turning golden, and the nights are drawing in. It can only mean one thing; Pumpkin season is here, and at Haven House Children’s Hospice we have the perfect autumn activity for the whole family.

Children and families are invited to Haven House’s Pumpkin Plod on Saturday 28 October, for an afternoon of pumpkin and Halloween fun.

The event, hosted at Haven House in Woodford Green, includes a 3km adventure trail through Epping Forest – an enchanting setting for an autumn walk amidst spectacular trees and wildlife (look out muntjac deer).

Back at the hospice, there will be Halloween-themed activities, a live DJ, hot food, face painting, bouncy castle and more! There’s plenty to keep little ones entertained while helping to support a great cause.

Sophie Bragg, Events Fundraising Manager at Haven House, said: “Our Pumpkin Plod is the perfect half-term activity and a brilliant way to support local children and their families. We encourage children and adults to dress up – we can’t wait to see your spook-tacular costumes on display.

Haven House is here to enable those we support to enjoy life as children, rather than as patients, and as families, not just as carers. Together, we help families create happy memories and make the most of every moment. Money raised will go to providing specialist care and emotional support to hundreds of local seriously ill children.

Haven House cares for children in North East London, West Essex and Hertfordshire. Each year it costs around £5million to run our hospice. Short breaks, end of life care, therapeutic and supportive services, such as music and bereavement care are some of the services the hospice provides.

If you are looking for something a little more energetic. The hospice will also be hosting a Chasing Pumpkins run earlier in the morning (Saturday 28 October 10am start). Whether you’re an avid runner or just looking for a wickedly good time, the 5k and 10k course is perfect for participants of all ages and fitness levels.
