Haven House is seeking to recruit band 3-7 nurses and healthcare support workers to join our Care team following our recent refurbishment.

In June, we completed our biggest ever refurbishment programme to upgrade care facilities at The White House in Woodford Green.

Space inside has been increased and made more accessible with a new open-plan nurses station, wider door frames, larger lift and the removal of partitions. The bereavement suite has been moved closer to the family flat for greater privacy.

Whilst the work took place, Haven House’s respite and residential services were temporarily moved to the Holly Private Hospital in Buckhurst Hill. Following competition of the refurbishment, care staff and families transferred back to Haven House in May.

Debbie Dawes, Clinical Nurse Manager at Haven House, said: “There has never been a better time to join our Care team following our extensive refurbishment in our 15th birthday year.

“It’s no secret that many healthcare professionals in hospital settings are under intense pressure and this is impacting on career prospects.

“We want them to know that they do have options and can rediscover the joy of providing one-to-one personalised care within our hospice.”

Stacey Bishop, a healthcare support worker at the hospice, said: “Haven House is really the most magical place to work. I’ve been here for almost 14 years and absolutely love it.

“The support for staff is brilliant and you get to provide care to families in the most beautiful of settings.”

Sylvia Nyamaah, from Ilford, began using Haven House for overnight respite care in November 2016 for her son, Malachi, who suffered a brain injury during a life-saving operation.

Sylvia said: “When I visited Haven House I knew this was a place which would give Malachi the very best care, and look after him with dignity. The care is personalised and the staff listen to you. They make sure he gets all the things which can keep him well.”
