Our Buddies sibling support group has recently enjoyed two very special outings, creating moments of fun, support and lasting memories for the brothers and sisters at the heart of the families we care for.

A recent visit to our local fire station in Woodford offered an exciting behind-the-scenes experience. The team gave us a warm welcome, inviting our Buddies to explore the station, climb aboard the fire engine, try out the hose and even race to get suited up. It was a day full of energy, laughter and new experiences, giving siblings the chance to simply enjoy being children together.

More recently, our older Buddies were treated to a special theatre outing to see Six the Musical, enjoying a vibrant performance filled with music, energy and excitement.

Opportunities like these are a vital part of the support we provide at Haven House. We know that siblings play an incredibly important role within each family, and it is essential that they have space to connect with others, express themselves and create positive memories of their own.

Abi, 12, shared: “I’ve been wanting to watch Six for ages and you made my wish come true.”
Siblings Demi-Leigh and Tommy-Lee, whose brother Bailey died last year at Haven House, reflected: “It was so nice watching Six, as the last time we went was with our brother and it brought back so many happy memories.”

These reflections highlight just how meaningful these experiences are for the siblings we support. We are incredibly grateful to the Woodford fire crew for making our visit so memorable, and to one of our major donors whose generosity made the theatre trip possible. Their support enables us to continue delivering compassionate, holistic care for the whole family.
