Families from Haven House Children’s Hospice had plenty of time to have fun at Grange Farm in Chigwell on Friday 19 August as part of an Outdoor Family Fun Day.

The day was hosted in collaboration with Grange Farm Trust, Colebrook FC and Essex Wildlife Trust and involved a range of fun activities including den-building in the nature reserve and toasting marshmallows on a camp fire.

The event, part of a series of outdoor Family Days held during August by Haven House, was enjoyed by children who use the hospice along with their brothers and sisters and parents.

Staff from Essex Wildlife Trust also put on a nature trail and helped families locate interesting sights and sounds.

Mike Palfreman, Haven House Chief Executive, said: “It was great to see so many families take part in our Outdoor Family Fun Day at Grange Farm. Despite the rain, our families had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the activities and learning about the wildlife.

“We are very grateful to Grange Farm, Colebrook FC and Essex Wildlife Trust for their support.

“The Family Day events we have hosted throughout August have been in direct response to feedback from parents, at the parents’ forum, asking to access our grounds and enjoy family time more often, especially during the summer months.”

Haven House will hold its final Family Day of the month in its grounds on Friday 26 August.
