Driver Assistant Join our team and support our van driver with deliveries between our retail shops and the hospice. Expand Keeping the supply of items flowing between our offices, retail shops and various locations is vital as it assists in the smooth running of the hospice. The primary role of the volunteer driver assistant is to help deliver and collect purchased and donated goods for the Hospice and any future retail outlets across, Central and North East London and West Essex. Facilities Volunteer Come and support our facilities team in the maintenance and smooth running of the hospice. Expand The facilities team ensure the smooth-running day to day of the hospice both inside and outside the building. The remit for the facilities team includes liaising with contractors, managing the housekeeping team, utilities, managing the upkeep of the building and the grounds, health and safety, space and office management and project managing any work that is carried out at the hospice. We are looking for volunteers who could join the team and help out generally day to day around the hospice with small DIY tasks and at some of our big on-site events. Buddies activity volunteer Come and support our lively buddies group with trips and activities. Expand We provide regular support groups and activity sessions for siblings to meet other brothers and sisters of children with life-limiting illnesses or those who have experienced bereavement. The service is hosted in a variety of settings including our Buddies hut in the grounds or trips off site. The groups are often divided between juniors (aged 5-11) and teens (12-18). For both groups it is an opportunity to have fun together and enjoy activities and outings. Brothers and sisters of a child who uses or has used our services are eligible to receive sibling support from the Buddies group. We require volunteers to come and assist at these activities, working alongside our buddies’ co-ordinator. Much of the role involves taking care of the needs of the children while they are at an event and joining in and assisting with the activity. For this role we ask, that you have some experience of working/volunteering with children. This role only runs in the school holidays as this is when the children are free. Purple pot ambassadors This role involves volunteers managing our charity collection boxes in an area or a high street. Expand Purple pots are our charity collection boxes that we have in the local community. This role involves volunteers managing an area or a high street and keeping a check on the existing boxes and replacing them when required. This includes local shops, pubs, businesses etc. Once collected and replaced the pot should be dropped back to the hospice. The role is very flexible and is based within your local area. Event Support There are various ways in which you could assist at one of our events. Expand We have many fundraising events throughout the year both at the hospice and in the local area. There are various ways in which you could assist at one of these events, including bucket collections, marshalling, registration, catering, serving refreshments, running games and merchandise stalls or selling raffle tickets. Complementary Therapists We need complementary therapists to offer their services to the children and parents we care for. Expand Our complementary therapy service is led by volunteers that are trained and experienced in their field. They offer support on our premises to parents of children who are receiving care at Haven House. Haven House will ensure that therapies are offered to families and that this is promoted within the community. The reception team will book all appointments for the therapists. The role is flexible so therapists may choose to work once a week or once a fortnight. Retail volunteers Volunteering in one of our shops (Chingford, North Chingford, Loughton, Epping, Leytonstone, Crouch End and Romford) can be rewarding and a very interesting fun way of volunteering. Expand Shop volunteers help with all aspects of the day today running of the shop so you could be asked to help out with any of the following activities; Serving customers at the till point Sorting through donations Cleaning bric-a-brac Pricing and hanging clothes Helping with shop displays. Haven House relies on having a team of volunteers to help the Manager run the shop on a regular basis. Volunteer gardeners Are you an outdoors person who enjoys working in beautiful surroundings? Expand We are looking for volunteer gardeners to help us look after our beautiful grounds, which include tranquil woodland and mature shrub borders. Enthusiasm is the key ingredient, you do not have to be a very knowledgeable gardener as training and support are provided.
