Local solicitors are doing their bit for charity by providing a free standard Will writing service to residents who would like to support Haven House Children’s Hospice.

The businesses are waiving their fee in return for a donation to the hospice which supports life-limited children and their families in North and North East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire.

Haven House Make a Will Week runs from 7-11 March. Solicitors are taking part in the scheme in the following locations: Walthamstow, Holborn, Chingford, Epping, Loughton, Clapton, Woodford, South Woodford, Ware, Winchmore Hill, Hackney and Chigwell.

Research by the Law Society shows that 73 per cent of 16-54 year olds have not written a Will and that the consequences of dying without a valid one can be dire for those left behind.

Haven House has enlisted the support of sporting events promoter Barry Hearn, a patron of the hospice, for Make a Will Week.

Hearn, the founder and chairman of Matchroom Sport, said: “Making a Will with Haven House is a very simple process and can deliver the best result possible to the people who matter closest to you.

“When the time comes, they will have piece of mind that your final wishes are clear and that your possessions are going to the right place. A gift in your Will can help care for life-limited children and their families in our area.”

Normally a standard single Will would cost approximately £150 and a mirror Will (couple) would cost around £250 - £350. A suggested donation to Haven House is a minimum of £90 for a single Will and £150 for a mirrored Will.
