Help us support vulnerable children and families through the pandemic in your local community.

We are continually monitoring the Coronavirus situation and taking sensible and necessary precautions to protect the health and wellbeing of our children, families, staff. The future of Haven House is still uncertain and we continue to monitor the changing situation.

We are doing everything possible to continue to care and provide vital services to seriously ill children and families. Haven House is often described as a lifeline for the many children and families who rely on the specialist care we provide. Thank you for always thinking of us, we are thinking of you too.

We are providing planned care and respite for the times when things are just too difficult, or parents themselves are unable to care for their children due to illness. How we are continuing to care:

  • We are working in partnership with NHS and social care colleagues to help more complex children, sometimes straight from intensive care, in order to free up vital NHS beds
  • Care at end of life continues to be vital and in demand as families face challenging visiting arrangements in hospital. We are working to fast track children out of hospital to their homes or to the hospice where families can be together at this most difficult time
  • Our family flat has provided a refuge for parents and siblings to gain the confidence to care for their child’s complex medical needs whilst being close by
  • We have embraced technology to continue to deliver services such as Music and Play Therapy, Therapeutic Yoga and Physiotherapy via video calling. We recently delivered our annual memory day service to bereaved families virtually
  • Our nurses and play workers have resumed home visits providing specialist nursing support and sensory activities tailored to each child or young person’s individual needs
  • Care at end of life continues to be vital and in demand
  • We continue to appeal for support from our local community and supporters

Haven House is a lifeline for hundreds of children and families and they need us now more than ever. We still remain uncertain of what the future holds and are continuing to look to our local community for support.

Donate now and help us support vulnerable children and families in your local community.

We urgently need you to continue supporting the hospice in whatever way you can as we cope with the current crisis and the difficult times that will follow. Our children and families need you now more than ever so we can continue to be here for them now and in the future.

Through your support and the government funding, which has been made available as a lifeline for us and our families, we have already been able to meet some of the hospice’s immediate needs such as providing a range of critical emergency care services to our children and families who are isolated and particularly vulnerable at this time. We continue to support our colleagues who are on the front-line of the pandemic in the NHS.

The government funding has been necessary to fill part of the sudden drop in income for the short term due to our fundraising events being cancelled and the closure of our shops.

Haven House families need us now more than ever and we still need your help.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. We could not exist without you.
