Their strength, her motivation: Donna’s journey to the London Marathon After three years of setbacks, this Sunday (April 26) marks Donna Nicol’s long-awaited moment at the start line. Now, on her third attempt, she is ready to take on the London Marathon - inspired by every Haven House child and family she has supported. Donna, a specialist children’s physiotherapist and Director of Kids Physio London, has been part of our Haven House family for more than a decade. During that time, she has cared for hundreds of children, providing vital physiotherapy to support comfort, movement and quality of life.Donna, of Highams Park said: “I am incredibly proud and excited to be running London in support of Haven House, a charity that is very close to my heart. For over 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting the children and families we care for, whose strength and resilience inspire me every day.” Donna has already raised an incredible £5,334 in support of Haven House, helping ensure we can continue providing vital care to children and families across our community. Her journey to the start line has not been easy. After withdrawing from previous attempts due to injury and experiencing a hip stress fracture, these challenges only deepened her determination to reach the start line. She added: “This journey has grown into far more than I ever imagined. When I think about the children and families at Haven House, it puts everything into perspective. Their resilience has been a constant source of inspiration.” Training has given Donna focus, a sense of calm and time to reflect, while building both her physical and mental strength. “Running has given me focus, a sense of calm and space to reflect. It’s shown me how powerful resilience can be, and that we’re capable of achieving hard things,” she continued. As race day approaches, Donna is looking forward to the experience and when the miles get tough, she knows exactly what will carry her through. “All the early mornings and long runs have led to this moment, and I’m ready to embrace every step,” she said. “I’ll be thinking of the incredible children and families I support - their strength will carry me through every mile.” From all of us at Haven House, we are immensely proud of Donna and wish her the very best of luck.
