Haven House Children’s Hospice has launched a new appeal for volunteers as part of Volunteers' Week.

The hospice, which supports life-limited children and their families in North and North East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire, says it needs more volunteers in order to expand its services and care for more children and families.

Throughout Volunteers' Week, which runs until 12 June, more than 160 volunteers from Citi will be transforming the grounds of the hospice into a magical Mad Hatters Tea Party for families of Haven House to coincide with HM The Queen’s 90th birthday on Saturday 11 June.

Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “We are delighted that so many employees from Citi will be helping us get ready for our Mad Hatters Tea Party in Volunteers' Week.

“Each year around 300 volunteers get involved with us in some way - and we are always needing more help.

“We rely on volunteers to help in a variety of different ways. For example you could volunteer in one of our shops or you could become a Haven House champion and help us at a fundraising event.

“You could help to place our Red House collection boxes in local businesses and shops. We also look for people who can help us connect with schools and community groups to help distribute flyers and raise the profile of our events.

“The volunteering opportunities are endless and by giving your time; even a couple of hours a month; you can help make a big difference to life-limited children and their families.”
