We were delighted to welcome staff from the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity to our hospice to explore ways in which we can work together.

There are great synergies between our charities, with the Rainbow Trust also supporting families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker, giving them practical and emotional support. Support is varied and depends on the needs of the family. It can include:

• listening to a family’s fears and anxieties
• helping to explain illnesses, diagnoses and treatments
• keeping a seriously ill child company during hospital stays
• driving families to medical appointments to help save time and money
• organising fun activities to help sick children, their brothers and sisters
• support through bereavement and grief

We are looking forward to working hand in hand with the Rainbow Trust team to provide joined up care for our children and families. Our aim is to ensure collaboration and to work together to provide families with many more choices about how and where they receive support.
