Staff from engineering giants, Laing O’Rourke, made a visit to Haven House last week, to present a cheque for £6,000 to the Woodford Green hospice.

The funds will be used to build a new sensory garden in the hospice’s woodland setting in Mallinson Park, Woodford Green; providing a specialist outdoor space for life-limited children and families.  The company will also be managing the build and providing labour and materials, as a ‘gift in kind’ to the charity.

Malcolm Nelson, of Laing O’ Rourke and Project Director for the build explains; ‘Our team is really looking forward to helping plan and build the garden.  The space at present needs a total overhaul and we want to create an interactive and engaging space for the children and their families to enjoy’.

Jenni Anderson, Director of Income Generation at Haven House, said of the donation; ‘This is a great example of how businesses can support the hospice; providing a mix of cash, time and resource to provide something extra special for Haven House.’  She continues; ‘We can’t wait to see the finished product and our children and families enjoying this fantastic outdoor space.’
