We’ve reached the end of our charity of the year partnership with Macfarlanes, and we are thrilled to announce that we have raised a staggering £204,423 - making it the most successful one-year partnership in our hospice history.

The leading London law firm committed all its annual fundraising efforts to support Haven House from October 2022 to the end of September 2023. The partnership supported our hospice in a range of different ways including raising money through fundraising activities, raising awareness of our charity amongst its staff and clients, volunteering, pro bono legal support, donations from its inhouse coffee bar, and the free use of office space.

This significant financial boost will play a pivotal role in enabling Haven House to expand our vital services, focusing on expert end-of-life care, bereavement family support, and enhancing our family accommodation.

Kate Rosenthal, Head of High Value Partnerships, at Haven House, said:

We would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to everyone at Macfarlanes who supported us over the past year. It is thanks to your generous donations, unwavering efforts to raise vital funds, and time spent volunteering that we can support more than 400 seriously ill children to live the best lives they can.
Your commitment to the cause has truly made a difference to the lives of countless families and children, and this extraordinary partnership stands as a shining example of corporate social responsibility and community engagement.”

Throughout this partnership, 56 dedicated employees from Macfarlanes rolled up their sleeves and devoted 392 hours of their time to help maintain our four-acre grounds. Their efforts in clearing and tidying our gardens have meant children and families can use our outdoor facilities all year round.

Employees attended and supported numerous events throughout the year, including creating their own. Some notable Macfarlanes’ events included the 20th birthday tea party, a thrilling bingo night, the Macs Tri, and the Three Peaks Challenge, where a team of colleagues scaled the three highest peaks in 24 hours.

We had the privilege of hosting visitors from Macfarlanes’ charity committee, and senior partners. These visits allowed staff to witness firsthand the profound impact of their support. Macfarlanes also generously offered pro-bono support in various areas, such as HR and ESG advice, legal counsel, and IT. They even provided meeting spaces, enabling Haven House staff to meet off-site for training and development.

We would like thank Macfarlanes employees for producing the partnership film in-house, showcasing this special year.

It costs around £5million each year to run our hospice - with 70% of our income coming from generous supporters. The money raised by Macfarlanes is crucial in allowing us to provide compassionate, physical, and practical care for seriously ill children and their families, whenever and wherever they need us.

Macfarlanes' support extends far and wide, touching the lives of families like Dylan's, who relied on Haven House for care.
