Share your support for Children's Hospice Week and our hospice by sharing our film using the hashtag #LifesShort on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Haven House provides support to life-limited children and their families including respite, short break and end-of-life care. We also offer services so that children and families have a fun and improve their emotional wellbeing by enjoying music therapy, yoga, toy home loan, play and activities.

This year we are celebrating 15 years of providing care and we'd like to continue to do this well into the future by raising awareness of the myths that surround hospices. During Children's Hospice Week on 21-27 May we are sharing our animation film that show our hospice is not  a “dark and dingy” place and that our children enjoy the time they spend with us.

We have lots of fun in our hospice and the children play in a number of different ways. The film shows Care staff helping a child who is in for respite get ready for school and caring for other children throughout the day. We also show our children enjoying sensory play in the hospice’s state-of-the-art sensory room and a music therapy session in its Holistic Care Centre. It ends with a child getting ready for bed with the help of a nurse and that our care never stops and is from day to night.

Eileen White, Director of Care at Haven House, said: “Our animation film shows all the ways we support children with life-limiting conditions, whether that’s through planned respite, short break and end-of-life care or therapies designed to improve emotional and physical wellbeing.

“We know that some people still perceive children’s hospices to be dark and dingy places filled with doom and gloom, but our animation film shows this is simply not the case.

“We hope our film encourages more of our community to support our work and for families who could benefit from our services to not be afraid to ask for help.”
