The hospice is set within four acres of protected woodland making it perfect for all year round outdoor activities.

Our playground, situated on the main lawn, has a wheelchair accessible pirate ship, named The Jolly Haven, a wheelchair swing, a sunken trampoline, a basket swing and lawn games. The surrounding area is fully accessible with an all-weather surface which ensures your child can have the benefits of fresh air and fun whatever the weather.

Our sensory garden, located behind the Holistic Care Centre, is a haven for wildlife with plants and flowers designed to attract insects for wildlife hunts and games. It also has a water feature, loungers and sensory equipment designed to make music.

Everything in the garden is designed to appeal to the five senses and we encourage your child to touch and feel the natural world around them.

This area is also used by families staying with us in our family flat as it is tranquil, peaceful and private.

Throughout the year we hold a number of events in our grounds, including our Summer festival, Pumpkin Fest and our Sparkle Walk.

Further afield, the hospice grounds are home to an arboretum, planted by the Mallinson family and their guests during 1953-78. Learn more about the history of the estate by reading A brief history of The White House & Mallinson Family (PDF 4.2mb).
